Mark Maddox is married to Dr. Kecia D. Maddox and is the father of two Sparkman High School graduates; John Mark Maddox who is a Music Technology major at UA Huntsville and Matthew Maddox who is a Business Administration major at Calhoun Community College.
In the summer of 1991, Mr. Maddox finished his Bachelor of Science degree in both Physics and Mathematics from Auburn University having studied Chemical engineering his first few years at Auburn. He completed a Masters of Divinity degree from the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1999 and has worked toward a Doctorate of Ministry degree in Biblical Spirituality from the same school.
Though he currently teaches AP Physics C Mechanics, AP Physics C Electricity & Magnetism, and Pre-AP Physics, Mr. Maddox spent much of his time at Sparkman since 2005 creating and implementing the Sparkman Engineering Academy as well as starting Sparkman’s Robotics Team.
Prior to arriving at Sparkman, Mr. Maddox taught Chemistry and Physics at Smiths Station High School for five years and afterwards taught Theology at Heritage Bible College for about five years.
Mark believes that teaching is a high calling that is coupled with service and ministry to the families of the Sparkman community. Much of his free time is spent in missions as well as hiking and biking in the great outdoors.
