I have lived in Madison, AL for the last 8 years. I moved here from Fort Walton Beach, FL where I graduated from Choctaw High School. I attended Okaloosa-Walton Community College receiving my AA, before attending the University of West Florida in Pensacola and earning my degree. After graduating I taught at an Alternarive School, an Elementary school, and my hometown rival- FWBHS. While at FWBHS, I earned a reading endorsement and was able to teach students how to LOVE READING and the importance of finding the right book. It will change your student's life!
When moving to this area, I obtained my first job at Madison County High but chose to transfer, after 2 years, to Sparkman. It was a personal goal to be in the community that I live, and to work at the same school my children would attend. I began as a collaborative teacher but I am currently a Transition Teacher for Madison County Schools. I am based out of Sparkman High School. During the 2015-16 school year, I was honored to be named Sparkman's Teacher of the Year and subsequently was named Alternate Secondary Teacher of the Year for the Madison County School System. I have found my new passion which is the gift of teaching students through work-based learning or on-the-job training.
I have been married for 20+ years to my husband Mike. Together we have 3 kids: Michael, Maddie, and Charlotte. Michael works in the family business. Maddie is a sophomore in college in Gainesville, FL and Charlotte is a senior at Sparkman!
