My name is Ashly Johnston and I teach AP English Language and Composition and ACT Prep. In addition to these teaching responsibilities, I also co-sponsor Student Government Association, co-sponsor the prom committee, chair the Alabama Boys' and Girls' State programs, and facilitate our Big Brothers/Big Sisters partnership with Madison Crossroads. I have been teaching full-time for eight years and have spent all of this time at Sparkman. I am passionate about my job and most importantly my students. I love the diversity represented at this school, and truly believe we have the best students in Madison County!
Although, I have lived in Alabama for nearly 12 years now, I'm still an Okie at heart. I graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism &Public Relations. BOOMER SOONER! I love my alma mater and have no shame representing here in SEC country. I also hold a Master's Degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis on English and an Ed. S. in Administrational Leadership. In addition, I have completed 3 of 4 National Board Certified Teaching components and hope to finish this year. I am continuously on a quest for knowledge and have a passion for learning. My teaching assignments allow me to share my knowledge regarding each of the things I hold dear and I am grateful for such an opportunity.
