Amber Parker Staggs » Bio

My name is Amber Staggs, and I teach English 12 at SHS. Over the years I have served as an assistant coach for the track and volleyball teams, as well as the faculty sponsor for prom. This year, however, I am taking a break from all extracurricular activities. I have been teaching for six years, and I have spent each of these years at Sparkman. There is truly no other place that I would rather be. Go Senators!

I am a two-time graduate of the University of Alabama. While attending UA, I received a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English Language Arts.

My husband, Matthew Staggs, is also a teacher, so a large part of our lives revolve around school and school functions. In our free time we enjoy attending athletic competitions (especially at UA), reading, spending time with friends and family, participating in church activities, and traveling.

Personal Philosophy of Education: I believe that the purpose of education is to equip students to become skilled participants in the workplace, while also exposing them to a plethora of new ideas, cultures, and experiences. A student’s education only begins with high school; it is my hope that students leave Sparkman with the desire to be lifelong learners.
