I am so excited to have joined the Sparkman team this year as a U.S. History teacher. I earned my BS degree in Business Management and Marketing at The New York Institute of Technology. After 16 years in small businesses, corporate and international businesses; I decided to follow a dream of mine and become a teacher. I know it might sound a tad cliché, but I wanted to do something that gave my life meaning and purpose. I went back to school and earned my teaching certificate from The University of West Florida and began teaching in Crestview, Florida 6 years ago. I can say after my short 6 years in teaching that my life has purpose, it has meaning and I have worked harder these past 6 years then I ever did in business. Teaching is truly a labor of love and I wouldn’t trade a single day.
I have two beautiful daughters, Hope and Haley and a sweet little boy that I consider my own, CT. Hope graduated last May and is headed off to the U.S. Navy to work in communications. Haley is a freshman at Grissom and wants to attend NYU for drama. CT is 2 and loves to go camping, wrestle with his daddy and play outside. I love to spend any time with my girls that they are willing to spend with their mom. Andrew and I enjoy camping, hiking, exploring, entertaining and time with friends. I enjoy reading, and baking when I have time. On the weekends you can find us all either outside or in front of the TV watching college football or binge watching some great Netflix series.
I am also new to Alabama. I spent my early childhood in Ohio, home is Virginia and I come to Alabama by way of Florida. So far I love all that Huntsville has to offer. The area is beautiful, tons of things to do and see and is, by far, the friendliest state I have ever lived. Everyone here at Sparkman has been so pleasant and so willing to show me the ropes and make sure I feel welcome. Again, so happy I joined this team, and I look forward to getting to know all of you.
