This fall, Ms. Danner will be starting her sixth year of teaching high school English. Over the summer, she relocated to Alabama from South Carolina where she taught at a school in Summerville, South Carolina (approximately 30 minutes from Charleston, South Carolina). For three of those five years, she was a member of the English 1 Pacing Guide Committee that developed the district-wide, standardized pacing guide for Dorchester School District 2 in South Carolina. Also for three of those five years, Ms. Danner was the team leader for the English 1 team of teachers at Ashley Ridge High School. In 2015-2016, she also co-developed the rotational, technology-focused format for the English 1CP/Freshman Seminar Block class at Ashley Ridge High School. With an increase in the End of Course test scores (SC state standardized end of year test for English 1) of 8% points in one year, this format was then adapted district-wide for the blocked class.
In her free time, Ms. Danner enjoyed coaching the archery team at her last school. Her last team won their region the last three years in a row and progressed to the state level the last five years in a row. She has had individual archers make it to the national and world levels as well! She is looking forward to having the opportunity to create an archery program at Sparkman High School.
She also taught riding lessons out of her equine property, Spotted Oak Farm in South Carolina, and is looking into starting a lesson program here in Alabama. During the hunting season, she fox hunts on the weekend. During the summer, she helps show the hunting hounds at recognized hound shows in South Carolina, Florida, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
She has four horses who were also just relocated from South Carolina. She and her boyfriend have four dogs - two Boxers, a retired foxhound, and a Boston/French Bulldog mix that love to greet her when she gets home from work.
